What is chess?

Knight:- Horse always moves in L shape. First it moves two houses in one direction and then one house in diagonal direction. It can also jump over other pieces and move forward.


Camel:- Camel moves only in diagonal direction and it can move in any number of diagonal directions.


Elephant:- Elephant always moves in straight direction and it can move in any number of diagonal directions.


Queen:- Queen is the most powerful piece, which can move in any direction diagonally, straight and vertically.


King:- King can move forward only one step at a time. and it can be moved in all directions

Main Objective of Chess

The main objective of chess game is to cut the king piece. When the king piece is attacked, we call it check. In this situation, the player has to make another move to save the king piece. When the player is unable to save the king and the king piece is cut, the game ends. This situation is called checkmate.

Start of the Game


The start of the game is very important as it lays the foundation for the rest of the game. The following points should be kept in mind in the early stage:

Control of the center: The four squares in the center of the board (d4, d5, e4, e5) are very important as they give more mobility to your pieces

Development of pieces: Get your knights and rooks out early so that they can control important parts of the board

In the end game most of the pieces are removed, and the importance of pawns increases

Opposition and Zugzwang: The use of opposition is important in some endgames, where your king blocks the opponent’s king
